The Home Ministry has decided to form anti-juvenile gang committees in every upazila as part of the government’s efforts to curb juvenile gang activities across the country.
Under the plan, Upazila Nirbahi Officers (UNOs) will head the committees, while the officers-in-charge (OCs) of the respective police stations will serve as member-secretaries.
The initiative marks a tougher administrative and law enforcement approach to tackling juvenile gang activities, with the aim of ensuring more coordinated action at the grassroots level.
By bringing local administration and police under a common framework, the government expects to strengthen monitoring, improve coordination and support preventive measures to keep young people away from gangs.
The decision reflects the government’s tougher stance on juvenile gangs amid growing concerns over youth violence and public safety across the country.
