Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus has voiced grave concern over the tragic fire in Korail slum, conveying heartfelt sympathy to the victims and affirming that the government will ensure full support for their rehabilitation.
He also wished for the swift recovery of those injured in the incident.
The CA said, “The sufferings of the families who have become homeless in Korail slum fire is a sorrow for all of us. The government will ensure all necessary assistance for the rehabilitation of the victims.”
He further informed that the relevant authorities have been instructed to immediately intensify rescue and relief operations. Simultaneously, they have been directed to investigate the cause of the fire and take effective measures to prevent such accidents in the future.
The fire broke out at Korail slum in Tejgaon area at 5:19pm on Tuesday. After efforts from 20 units of the fire service, the fire was brought under control at 10:35pm, nearly five and a half hours later.
