The government has reconstituted the Executive Committee of Bangladesh Freedom Fighters Welfare Trust to enhance dynamism and effectiveness of the organisation’s operations.
Ahmed Azam Khan, the minister for Liberation War Affairs, will serve as chairman of the restructured committee.
Ministry of Liberation War Affairs issued a notification regarding this appointment on Monday. The restructuring has been carried out in accordance with the Bangladesh Freedom Fighters Welfare Trust Act.
The other members of the committee include Ishraque Hossain, MP for Dhaka-6 and state minister for Liberation War Affairs; Md Fazlur Rahman, MP for Kishoreganj-4; Md Manirul Haque Chowdhury, MP for Cumilla-6; and Zainul Abdin Farroque, MP for Noakhali-2.
Moreover, the Secretary of the Finance Division of Ministry of Finance, Secretary of Ministry of Industries, and Secretary of Ministry of Liberation War Affairs will serve as ex-officio members of the Executive Committee.
The managing director of Bangladesh Freedom Fighters Welfare Trust will act as member secretary.
The reconstituted Executive Committee is tasked with the proper execution of duties and instructions mandated by the Trust’s laws, regulations, and board of trustees.
Its core responsibilities include the regular supervision of all Trust activities, the formulation and implementation of development plans for the Trust and its subordinate commercial or industrial enterprises, monitoring the progress of ongoing projects, auditing accounts, and determining future strategies.
The committee will also be responsible for the direct implementation of any decisions issued by the board of trustees from time to time.
It is expected that the formation of this new committee will significantly accelerate the various development and welfare initiatives of the Trust.
