Building a safe, modern and technology-driven education system for every child is a key priority, Primary and Mass Education State Minister Bobby Hajjaj said.
He made the remarks as chief guest at a review meeting on new development projects under the Directorate of Primary Education at its conference room in the capital.
The government is working to establish an inclusive and time-befitting smart primary education system under the leadership of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, he said.
“The future education system will be technology-based. Learning Management System, smart assessment and school management will be integrated under a single digital platform,” he said.
He said improving foundational literacy and numeracy is being given priority, alongside strengthening reading comprehension and language skills, including listening and speaking.
The state minister directed officials to ensure transparency, accountability and adherence to timelines in project implementation.
The meeting was informed that 13 new development projects have been proposed for the overall development and modernisation of primary education and have been included in the government’s green page.
The initiatives include development of government primary schools, infrastructure upgrades for model schools in 11 city corporations, renovation of dilapidated schools, development of playgrounds, furnishing of pre-primary classrooms, the second phase of the mid-day meal programme, the NextGen Primary Education Programme, and solar electrification of schools in hill districts without power.
Other projects include infrastructure development of Primary Teachers’ Training Institutes across the country and establishment of model government primary schools at the union level.
The state minister also reviewed the Primary Education Development Programme Phase 5 in detail.
Among others, Primary and Mass Education Ministry Additional Secretary Md Mokhlesur Rahman and Directorate of Primary Education Director General Shahina Ferdousi were present.
Senior officials of the directorate also shared views on implementation strategies and monitoring mechanisms of the projects.
