Members of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB-6) have arrested eight indivisuals in Jashore on charges of gambling using online betting websites.
During the drive, the force recovered one laptop, nine Android mobile phones, and 860 scratch cards of various colours.
The arrests were made on Monday at 4:50pm during a raid on a flat in a five-storey building situated on the south bank of Chormara Dighi in Dalmill Adarshapara under Jashore Kotwali Model Police Station.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Faisal, 22, Shahin Alam, 24, Milan, 25, Shariful Aslam, 23, Nazmul Hossain, 22, Shariful Aslam, 23, Bappi Hossain, 21, and Ariful Islam, 20, all hailing from Shyamnagar upazila in Satkhira.
According to RAB, an operational team from CPC-3 Jashore Camp conducted the drive in Dalmill Adarshapara area following secret information.
The eight men were apprehended whilst actively gambling online inside the flat using a laptop and mobile phones.
RAB claimed that the suspects were illegally gambling on online betting websites through the laptop and nine Android mobile phones.
RAB also stated that the arrestees had been conducting illegal financial transactions both domestically and internationally using various Mobile Financial Service (MFS) accounts, including bKash, Rocket, and Nagad.
A total of 860 scratch cards of different colours were seized from their possession during the operation.
RAB-6 confirmed that the arrested individuals have been handed over to police for legal action to be taken against them.
