The government has undertaken extensive preparations to observe July Uprising Day 2026 across the country with due dignity and nationwide participation.
The Ministry of Liberation War Affairs has issued directives to ministries, divisions, departments, agencies and field-level administrations to implement a wide range of programmes marking the occasion.
According to a letter signed by Shabnam Mustari Rikta, Deputy Secretary of the ministry’s Administration-2 Branch, the decisions taken at an inter-ministerial meeting on 3 May have been circulated among all relevant institutions for implementation.
The ministry said it has sent the meeting minutes to the concerned ministries, departments and agencies and instructed them to take necessary measures in line with the decisions.
The letter said preparations are underway from the highest levels of government to the field administration to ensure nationwide observance of the day.
The Cabinet Division, Prime Minister’s Office, Armed Forces Division, various ministries and divisions, law enforcement agencies, district administrations, city corporations and upazila administrations have all been involved in the preparations.
The ministry has also sent memorandums to the Cabinet Secretary, the Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister, the chiefs of the three armed services, and senior secretaries and secretaries of different ministries for implementation of the decisions.
At the same time, the Bangladesh Army, Navy and Air Force, along with Bangladesh Police, RAB, BGB, Ansar and VDP, Coast Guard, National Security Intelligence (NSI), Directorate General of Forces Intelligence (DGFI) and other relevant security agencies, including Dhaka Metropolitan Police, have been instructed to make necessary preparations.
The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Bangladesh Television, Bangladesh Betar, the Department of Information and the Department of Mass Communication have been asked to carry out publicity campaigns highlighting the significance of the day.
According to sources, the meeting decisions include organising discussion meetings, reminiscence sessions, cultural programmes, photography exhibitions and special publications at the national level.
The directives have also been sent to all divisional commissioners, deputy commissioners, upazila executive officers, superintendents of police and officers-in-charge of police stations.
As a result, comprehensive programmes are expected to take place at divisional, district and upazila levels alongside central observances.
Ministries and divisions related to education, culture, youth and sports, local government, health, agriculture, transport, religious affairs, social welfare, science and technology, women and children affairs, expatriate welfare, environment, commerce and information technology have also been included in the preparations.
Officials said the involvement of these sectors has created opportunities for special sector-based events in addition to national programmes.
The National Freedom Fighters Council, Bangladesh Freedom Fighters Welfare Trust, the Liberation War Museum, Bangladesh Scouts, Bangladesh National Cadet Corps and Bangladesh Muktijoddha Sangsad have also been informed to take part in the observance.
