A government official has brought allegations of corruption, document falsification and retaliatory harassment against senior colleagues, claiming widespread misconduct within his department and calling for an impartial investigation.
The information was disclosed at a press conference held at the National Press Club on Sunday.
Md Hafiz Al Hossain, a departmental storekeeper, alleged that Administrative Officer Md Ruhul Amin and three subordinates forged official documents and concealed files to illegally reinstate a previously cancelled plot transfer, allegedly in exchange for a substantial bribe.
He said, “After I discovered and objected to the alleged irregularities, I was subjected to retaliatory actions, including an abrupt transfer to Cumilla, the initiation of a departmental case against me, and intimidation by hired groups.”
He further alleged that his name was deliberately misstated in official records as part of a coordinated effort to discredit him for raising objections to the alleged wrongdoing.
The complainant cited what he described as systemic misconduct, including falsifying attendance registers to show employees present while they were abroad and illegally subletting government residential quarters.
“I was unlawfully suspended and transferred without proper notification,” he alleged.
He also claimed that hired individuals attacked him at his workplace, forcibly broke storeroom locks and disabled CCTV cameras in an attempt to conceal the incident.
Additionally, he accused one of his colleagues, Shahidullah, of corruption, alleging unauthorised foreign travel and the accumulation of assets disproportionate to known sources of income.
According to Hafiz, he has filed a general diary in connection with the incident and has submitted relevant documents and evidence to the departmental authorities.
Hafiz now seeks reinstatement to his position, protection from further harassment and a formal investigation into the allegations of corruption and administrative malpractice.
