The government has decided to appoint one tag officer at each petrol pump to control the fuel situation in the country.
The Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources announced the decision in a press release issued on Saturday.
According to the release, the decision was taken at a virtual meeting on Friday chaired by Mohammad Saiful Islam, secretary of the Energy and Mineral Resources Division.
In Dhaka and Chattogram metropolitan areas, Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation (BPC) will appoint the tag officers. Outside these areas, deputy commissioners and upazila nirbahi officers will designate government officials as tag officers for each petrol pump under their jurisdiction.
