The ‘Soccerama’ concert, featuring four popular Bangladeshi bands, has been postponed.
The concert was scheduled to take place on Tuesday (18 August) at the United Convention Centre in Dhaka, but organisers decided to delay the event at the last minute.
Band Chirkutt confirmed the postponement in a social media statement on Monday afternoon.
According to the organisers, they plan to stage Soccerama on a larger scale after addressing several logistical issues.
The decision was also taken considering inadequate preparations, security concerns and the government directive requiring all cultural programmes to conclude by 8pm.
The organisers, Link 3 and Affordable Venture Limited, said a new date for Soccerama would be announced soon.
The event was designed to bring football and music together, with former Argentina star footballer Claudio Caniggia among its main attractions.
Despite the postponement, his planned visit to Bangladesh is reportedly unchanged.
Chirkutt, Artcell, Nemesis and Odd Signature were scheduled to perform at the concert.
Tickets had already gone on sale through the ticketing platform Tickify in three categories.
The organisers said details about the new date and ticket arrangements would be announced once the rescheduled event is confirmed.
