Hajj flight preparations completed; PM to inaugurate Friday

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman will inaugurate this year’s Hajj flight from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka on Friday.

The Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism said the prime minister will open the Hajj flight operations at 11:30pm.

According to a press release issued by the ministry, the initiative is part of the government’s effort to ensure smooth travel arrangements for pilgrims ahead of the upcoming Hajj season.

Preparations for Hajj management have been completed, including an expanded flight schedule and reduced airfare.

Bangladesh, one of the world’s largest Hajj pilgrim-sending countries, is expected to send a total of 78,500 pilgrims to Saudi Arabia this year.

Of them, 4,565 pilgrims will perform Hajj under government management, while 73,935 will travel through private agencies.

About 50 percent of the pilgrims will travel by Biman Bangladesh Airlines, while the remaining passengers will use Saudia and Flynas.
