Authorities have cancelled the licences and confiscated the security deposits of three recruiting agencies over allegations of sending 30 Bangladeshi youths to Russia through fraud.
The decision came on the directive of Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment Minister Ariful Haque Choudhury.
The agencies are RS International (RL-1428), Jabal-e-Noor (RL-2505) and TS Overseas Limited (RL-1755).
Officials said the agencies allegedly misled the victims by promising high salaries and various facilities before sending them abroad.
The minister issued a strong warning, saying no individual, agency, group or syndicate involved in sending workers abroad through deception or endangering lives would be spared.
He said the government would not allow dishonest practices to damage the country’s overseas employment sector and added that monitoring would be strengthened further to prevent such crimes in future.
The minister also said efforts were underway to bring back the 30 Bangladeshi victims safely through diplomatic channels on an urgent basis.
He instructed the Bangladesh ambassador in Moscow to take all necessary steps to ensure protection and support for the affected workers.
The ministry has also urged job seekers to carefully verify the legitimacy of recruiting agencies and the terms of employment before making any overseas arrangements.
