Gold prices in Bangladesh have been reduced once again. According to the latest decision from Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS), the new prices will come into effect from Monday. However, silver prices will remain unchanged.
In a notice issued late on 26 October, BAJUS announced a fresh cut of Tk1,039 per bhori (11.664 grams) of gold.
As per the revised rates, the price of 22-carat gold will now stand at Tk2,07,957 per bhori. The price for 21-carat gold has been fixed at Tk1,98,498 per bhori, 18-carat gold at Tk1,70,143 per bhori, and traditional gold at Tk1,41,496 per bhori.
The BAJUS statement also mentioned that buyers must pay the government-fixed 5% VAT and a minimum making charge of 6%, as set by the association. However, the making charge may vary depending on the jewellery’s design and quality.
Earlier, on 22 October, BAJUS last adjusted gold prices, cutting them by Tk8,386 per bhori. At that time, the price of 22-carat gold was set at Tk2,08,996 per bhori, 21-carat at Tk1,99,501, 18-carat at Tk1,70,994, and traditional gold at Tk1,42,219. The rates came into effect from 23 October.
With the latest revision, gold prices have now been adjusted 68 times so far this year – increased 48 times and reduced 20 times. In 2024, the prices were adjusted 62 times, with 35 hikes and 27 reductions.
Despite the latest cut in gold prices, silver prices remain unchanged in the domestic market. The price of 22-carat silver stands at Tk5,470 per bhori, while 21-carat silver is priced at Tk5,214, 18-carat at Tk4,467, and traditional silver at Tk3,359 per bhori.
