Gold prices have risen again in the local market, with the price of best-quality, or 22-carat, gold increasing by Tk2,158 to Tk2,36,779 per bhori (11.664 grams), including VAT.
The new prices, set by the Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS), took effect at 10am on Saturday.
In a notification, BAJUS said the price adjustment was made in line with an increase in the price of tejabi, or pure, gold in the local market.
The latest hike came just a day after BAJUS reduced the price of 22-carat gold by the same amount, Tk2,158, effectively reversing Friday’s cut within 24 hours.
Under the revised rates, 21-carat gold rose by Tk2,100 to Tk2,26,165 per bhori, while 18-carat gold increased by Tk1,808 to Tk1,94,206 per bhori.
The price of traditional, or sanatan, quality gold rose by Tk1,458 to Tk1,58,630 per bhori.
Silver prices, however, remained unchanged.
The price of 22-carat silver stands at Tk5,074 per bhori, while 21-carat silver costs Tk4,841 per bhori and 18-carat silver Tk4,199 per bhori.
Traditional-quality silver remains priced at Tk3,159 per bhori.
