Police on Sunday morning recovered two objects resembling bombs from the front of the residence of Afroza Khatun, a female member in Amtoil village of Meherpur.
The objects, wrapped in red adhesive tape, were taken into police custody after being discovered earlier in the day.
Afroza Khatun serves as the panel chairman of Shoitaka Union Parishad.
Her husband, Abul Hossain, is the president of the ward number 7 unit of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) in the same union.
Local residents suggested that miscreants might have placed the objects to spread fear, potentially linked to a struggle for dominance within the union parishad.
According to locals, the discovery of the suspicious items caused panic among the family members of the UP member.
Upon receiving the information, a team from Hemayetpur police camp arrived at the scene to recover the objects.
Gangni Police Station Officer-in-charge (OC) Mohaddis Morshed Chowdhury confirmed that the matter is being investigated.
He added that the police are working to identify those involved in the incident.
