Gold prices in Bangladesh have dropped, with the price of 22-carat gold falling by Tk3,266 per bhori (11.664 grams) to settle at Tk2,58,824.
Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) announced the new price hike through a press release on Saturday night.
The price of 21-carat gold is now Tk2,47,044 per bhori, 18-carat gold is Tk2,11,760 per bhori, and traditional method gold is set at Tk 1,73,327 per bhori.
BAJUS said the adjustment was made in line with overall market conditions following a rise in the local price of tejabi gold, or pure gold.
The notice further said 5 percent VAT and minimum wage of 6 percent must be added to the selling price of gold. However, the wage may vary depending on the design and quality of the jewellery.
Meanwhile, silver prices remain unchanged in the local market. Currently, 22‑carat silver is selling at Tk6,357 per bhori, 21‑carat at Tk6,065, 18‑carat at Tk5,190, and traditional silver at Tk3,907 per bhori.
