The Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) has sharply reduced gold prices in the domestic market. The decision comes after two consecutive price hikes and one VAT adjustment. BAJUS cut the rate by Tk4,374 per bhori.
In a notice issued on Friday morning, BAJUS said the new price for 22-carat gold has been fixed at Tk2.28 lakh per bhori (11.664 grams), including VAT. The new rate came into effect at 10am.
BAJUS said the adjustment followed a decline in local prices of pure gold (tejabi gold) and an overall market review.
Under the new rates, 21-carat gold stands at Tk 2.18 lakh per bhori. The price of 18-carat gold has been set at Tk1.87 lakh per bhori. Traditional gold is priced at Tk1.53 lakh per bhori.
Earlier, on Thursday, BAJUS had last adjusted gold prices. On that day, VAT worthTk 2,508 was added per bhori. As a result, 22-carat gold was set at Tk2.32 lakh per bhori, including VAT.
On the same day, 21-carat gold was fixed at Tk2.22 lakh per bhori. Eighteen-carat gold stood at Tk1.91 lakh per bhori, while traditional gold was set at Tk1.56 lakh per bhori.
BAJUS said gold prices in the country have now been adjusted 77 times this year. Of these, prices increased 39 times, decreased 37 times, and VAT was adjusted once. In 2025, prices were revised 93 times, with 64 increases and 29 decreases.
Meanwhile, BAJUS also cut silver prices in the local market. The price of 22-carat silver has been reduced by Tk116 per bhori and fixed at Tk5,249.
In a separate notice issued on Friday morning, BAJUS confirmed the new silver rates, which also took effect at 10am.
It said the price adjustment came after a fall in local prices of pure silver (tejabi silver) and an overall market review.
Under the new rates, 22-carat silver stands at Tk5,249 per bhori (11.664 grams). The price of 21-carat silver is Tk5,016 per bhori, while 18-carat silver is Tk4,257 per bhori. Traditional silver is priced at Tk3,208 per bhori.
Earlier on 15 June, silver prices were last adjusted. At that time, 22-carat silver was increased by Tk233 to Tk5,365 per bhori.
On that day, 21-carat silver was fixed at Tk5,132 per bhori, 18-carat at Tk4,432 per bhori, and traditional silver at Tk3,324 per bhori.
BAJUS said silver prices have now been adjusted 47 times this year. Prices increased 24 times and decreased 23 times. In 2025, prices were revised 13 times, with 10 increases and 3 decreases.
