Acclaimed filmmaker Gias Uddin Selim is set to captivate audiences with his latest romantic comedy ‘Perfect Wife’, a flash fiction scheduled to premiere on the popular OTT platform Chorki on October 23 at 12:00 am.
The trailer, released on October 20, offers a glimpse into the lives of two young couples, hinting that a simple friendly visit unveils simmering conflicts within their seemingly perfect marriages.
In an exclusive chat, the director revealed the film’s core theme is to question the conventional masculine perspective of an ‘ideal wife’. Selim stated, “The concept of an ‘ideal wife’ as defined by a masculine perspective, is a prevalent notion. Our new production aims to question this conventional belief and desire.” He expressed his belief in exploring all formats as a filmmaker and hopes the audience will appreciate the story told in a humorous way.
The film boasts a mix of new and experienced talents, with Sudip Biswas Deep and Ariana Zaman playing one couple, and Mir Rabby and Zopari Lushai as the other. Most of the cast and key crew members are newcomers to Selim’s direction, creating an atmosphere of fresh collaboration.
The actors shared their enthusiasm for the project, with Sudip Biswas Deep noting the story doesn’t justify the term ‘perfect’ but explores its themes playfully, promising a fantastic twist. Ariana Zaman expressed her thrill at playing a character opposite to her real-life self, while Mir Rabby highlighted the challenges and fun of working in the situational comedy genre. Zopari Lushai hinted at an unexpected character arc and a startling climax for the audience.
‘Perfect Wife’ is the fourth flash fiction produced under the joint collaboration of production house Alpha-i and Chorki. The platform’s CEO, Redoan Rony, has previously described the flash fiction format as an aesthetic, cinematic portrayal of life’s moments, and a slice of life where small incidents are intended to have a significant and profound impact.
