Laura Dern will deliver the Laudatio speech in honour of George Clooney when the actor, director and producer receives the Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement at the Venice Film Festival on 2 September.
According to Variety, The festival will honour Clooney during its opening ceremony on the Lido.
Clooney is one of only three people to have received Oscar nominations in six different categories during their careers.
His nominations have covered best picture, director, lead actor, supporting actor, original screenplay and adapted screenplay.
Venice will celebrate the Hollywood star for his work as an actor, director and producer.
The Biennale has also recognised his commitment to social and humanitarian causes, describing him as a prominent figure in the entertainment industry.
Dern previously appeared alongside Clooney in Noah Baumbach’s Jay Kelly, which competed at Venice in 2025.
She has attended the festival several times throughout her career and delivered a speech in 2006 when Venice awarded David Lynch the Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement.
Clooney has also made several appearances at the Venice Film Festival over the decades, attending with films including Out of Sight, Good Night, and Good Luck, Wolfs and Jay Kelly.
