 State Minister for Local Government Mir Shahe Alam, MP, conducted an inspection of the Gabtoli Cattle Market on Tuesday and briefed reporters on the market’s conditions and security arrangements.

Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Administrator Md Shafiqul Islam Khan accompanied him during the visit.

The state minister assured that the government and the City Corporation would take all necessary measures to ensure a safe and comfortable environment for buyers and sellers ahead of Eid-ul-Adha, according to press release.

He described the overall market conditions as satisfactory and confirmed that the five per cent haasil (market fee) on animal sales is being properly collected and documented through receipts.

Addressing the effects of recent rainfall, the minister noted that while temporary disruptions occurred, effective drainage systems were in place. Any muddy areas are being promptly managed with bricks, sand, or surki.

On security, he emphasised that round-the-clock monitoring has been strengthened to prevent fraud and counterfeit currency, coordinated through the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), police, dedicated control rooms, and watchtowers.

Concluding his visit, minister urged the City Corporation, market lessees, law enforcement agencies, and other stakeholders to maintain discipline and ensure smooth operations throughout the market.
