The government has increased the prices of diesel, octane, petrol and kerosene by Tk2 per litre under the revised monthly automated pricing formula.
The new rates will take effect from Monday.
Diesel will now cost Tk104 a litre, up from Tk102. Octane has been raised to Tk124 from Tk122.
Petrol will cost Tk120 instead of Tk118, while kerosene has been adjusted to Tk116 from Tk114.
The Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources said in a press statement on Sunday that the adjustments aim to ensure fuel supply at comparatively fair prices for December under the automated monthly review system.
“The new rates have been set in line with global market movements,” it added.
The previous adjustment was made on 31 May, when the government set diesel at Tk102 per litre, kerosene at Tk114, octane at Tk122 and petrol at Tk118. Those rates remained unchanged for the following five months.
The latest increase comes at a time when global oil prices have been trending downward. Brent crude, the international benchmark, has fallen to $62 per barrel, while WTI crude has slipped to $58.33 — its lowest forward price for January in a month.
According to oilprice.org, Brent crude hovered around $60 per barrel throughout November, reaching a monthly high of $65.11 on 11 November.
