Hollywood actress Courteney Cox, best known for playing Monica Geller in the iconic sitcom ‘Friends’, has reportedly ended her longtime relationship with Northern Irish musician Johnny McDaid after more than a decade together.
According to a report by the Daily Mail, the couple quietly separated last year after reaching a point where they were leading increasingly different lives. Sources close to the former couple said the split was entirely amicable, with the two remaining on good terms.
“Johnny speaks incredibly highly of Courteney. They had a very deep relationship, and they remain extremely amicable. They are great friends and care about each other very much. This was not an ugly split. They had simply reached a point where they were living different lives,” a friend of the pair was quoted as saying by the publication.
Neither Cox nor McDaid has publicly commented on the reports.
The couple began dating in 2013 after being introduced by mutual friends, including singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran. They announced their engagement in 2014 but briefly split in 2015 before reconciling the following year. Despite never marrying, they remained together for nearly a decade after rekindling their relationship.
Reports suggest that the demands of a long-distance relationship contributed to their separation. Cox has long been based in Los Angeles, while McDaid reportedly spends much of his time in London. The Daily Mail also claimed that the Snow Patrol musician is in the early stages of a new relationship, although no further details have been disclosed.
Cox rose to international fame through her portrayal of Monica Geller in Friends, one of television’s most celebrated sitcoms. Beyond the Emmy-winning series, she is widely recognised for playing journalist Gale Weathers in the Scream film franchise and has also starred in television series including Cougar Town and Shining Vale. In recent years, she has expanded her career as a producer and director.
McDaid is a songwriter, producer and member of the rock band Snow Patrol. In addition to his work with the band, he has co-written numerous hit songs for artists including Ed Sheeran, Pink, Robbie Williams and Keith Urban, establishing himself as one of the industry’s sought-after songwriters.
