François Valérian, chair of the International Board of the Berlin-based anti-corruption organisation Transparency International (TI), has concluded his three-day visit to Bangladesh.

On the final day of his official trip in Dhaka, Valérian attended a dinner meeting at the TI Bangladesh (TIB) office in Dhanmondi. The event was attended by representatives from civil society, donor organisations, diplomats from various embassies, and other key stakeholders.

During the discussion on “Human Capital and Democratic Transformation,” Valerien exchanged views with civil society members and other stakeholders.

He delivered a speech titled “Human Capital and the Fall of Authoritarianism: Opportunities and Challenges for Democratic Transformation and Accountable Governance.”

In his address, he emphasised the crucial role of citizens in combating authoritarian practices and the importance of progress in accountable governance.

Following his speech, an open discussion was held, where distinguished guests shared their opinions on various pressing issues, including the current political landscape, the rights of indigenous communities, corruption, human capital, and authoritarianism.
