Police have arrested four individuals in connection with the rape of a 28-year-old woman in Panchagarh Sadar upazila, following a case filed by the victim on Saturday.

According to Abdullah Hil Zaman, Officer-in-Charge of Panchagarh Sadar Police Station, the arrests were made promptly after the incident was reported. The suspects—Jony Islam (27), Biplob Hossain (25), Moksedul Islam (32), and Sadekul Islam (32)—were detained on charges of gang rape and criminal intimidation.

The case, filed under relevant sections of the Penal Code and Women and Children Repression Prevention Act, names four individuals and includes two to three unidentified suspects. Law enforcement is actively working to identify and apprehend the remaining accused.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the crime occurred late Friday night near the Tinmile area along the Panchagarh-Jagdal Road. Police recovered the victim and her one-and-a-half-year-old child unconscious near a roadside bush early Saturday, after receiving a tip-off from locals.

Authorities have secured medical examination reports and recorded the victim’s statement as part of the legal proceedings. “We are prioritizing this case with utmost seriousness and will ensure all perpetrators are brought to justice,” said OC Abdullah Hil Zaman.

The arrested individuals are currently in police custody and are expected to be produced before a magistrate for remand hearings. The case is under further investigation, with law enforcement seeking forensic evidence and witness testimonies.
