Bangladesh national football team midfielder Quazem Shah has been stranded in Rome, Italy, due to flight complications.
The Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight was travelling from Toronto, Canada, to Dhaka when a technical problem forced it to make an emergency landing at Fiumicino Airport in Rome.
Quazem was travelling with his father, former cricketer Halim Shah, his mother and his sister.
Speaking from Rome, Halim Shah said, “After arriving in Rome from Toronto on a Biman Bangladesh flight, we had to sit inside the aircraft for eight hours. Later, due to the problem with the aircraft, they moved us to a hotel.”
He added, “We got a hotel because we have Canadian passports. I don’t know what has happened to those who don’t have Schengen visas or Canadian or American passports. We don’t know when we will be able to reach Dhaka from Rome.”
The transfer window for the Bangladesh Football League is currently open.
Quazem played for Dhaka Abahani last season. He has yet to officially sign for any club for the new season.
