Four more people died from measles or measles-like symptoms across Bangladesh in the 24 hours to 8:00 am on Saturday, according to the Directorate General of Health Services.
Of the deaths, two were suspected measles cases and two were confirmed cases. All four victims were from Dhaka division.
During the same period, 677 new suspected measles cases and 99 confirmed cases were detected across the country.
The figures were published in a bulletin issued on 8 August 2026 by the Integrated Control Centre under the Health Services Division of the DGHS, covering the period from 8:00 am on 7 August to 8:00 am on 8 August.
According to the bulletin, the number of suspected measles cases recorded nationwide since 15 March has risen to 1,35,332, while 17,040 cases have been confirmed.
Over the same period, 769 deaths have been recorded among suspected measles patients and 98 among confirmed cases.
Dhaka recorded the highest number of new suspected cases in the latest 24-hour period, with 277 infections, including 52 confirmed cases.
Chattogram reported 171 suspected cases, including 17 confirmed cases, while Sylhet recorded 79 suspected cases, including 21 confirmed infections.
Barishal reported 76 suspected cases, including five confirmed cases, followed by Mymensingh with 27 suspected cases, Khulna with 22, Rajshahi with 15, including four confirmed cases, and Rangpur with 10 suspected cases.
The DGHS said 622 patients were newly admitted to hospitals across the country during the 24-hour period, while 675 recovered and were discharged.
Since 15 March, a total of 1,17,444 measles patients have been admitted to hospitals for treatment, of whom 1,13,200 have recovered and returned home.
