Dhaka Metropolitan Police’s Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit has arrested five members of the notorious robbery crew, called the “Pani-Rubel Gang”, during an operation in Mohammadpur, Dhaka.
The arrested individuals are Md Layes (25), Md Shahin alias “Auto Shahin” (20), Md Shubho (19), Md Abdul Alim (28), and Md Milon Hossain (28),
A team from CTTC’s Special Action Group conducted raids in Mohammadpur’s Johuri Moholla and Babar Road areas on Sunday night and apprehended them.
DMP Deputy Commissioner (Media & Public Relations) Muhammad Talebur Rahman confirmed the arrests to the media on Monday morning.
According to CTTC, during preliminary interrogation, the arrestees admitted to regularly robbing pedestrians by threatening them with machetes and other sharp weapons.
Legal proceedings against them are underway, the CTTC stated.
