Fire service DG urges transparency, discipline in duties

Director General of the Fire Service and Civil Defence Brigadier General Muhammad Zahed Kamal has called on all officials and employees to uphold the institution’s reputation through transparent and disciplined performance.

He made the remarks during a Darbar (assembly) held at 10am on Sunday at the Fire Service and Civil Defence headquarters. Directors and staff in Dhaka attended in person, while divisional and district officers joined virtually from across the country.

The proceedings began with Director (Training, Planning and Development) Lt Col M A Azad Anwar, psc, formally handing over the Darbar to the DG.

In his address, Brigadier Zahed stressed the importance of professional discipline and ethical conduct, particularly in the upcoming recruitment process. He urged that the process remain as transparent and corruption-free as last year, warning against any unethical involvement by force members.

He also emphasised that all official instructions must be communicated across all levels.

Regarding administrative matters, he sought cooperation to maintain the transparency already established in the department’s transfer system. On social media, he instructed personnel to strictly follow existing laws and regulations, cautioning that legal action would follow any circulation of content damaging to the force’s reputation.

The The DG  also briefed officials on ongoing welfare initiatives for personnel. The Darbar concluded at 12pm after he listened to opinions and answered questions from staff.
