A fire broke out at Haji Abul Bashar Super Market in the Chawkbazar area of Dhaka and was brought under control after one and a half hours of efforts by the Fire Service.

The fire started at around 1:34pm on Saturday on the third floor of the market located in Chak Mogoltuli.

Fire Service sources said the blaze was brought under control at 3:14pm through the efforts of six units.

Fire Service and Civil Defence headquarters media officer Anwarul Islam told TIMES of Bangladesh that two units from Lalbagh Fire Station reached the scene at 1:46pm after receiving reports of the fire and began firefighting operations. Later, four additional units from Siddique Bazar Fire Station were deployed to assist.

The Fire Service confirmed that no casualties have been reported so far.

Officials said the fire originated from an electronics goods shop on the third floor, although the exact cause could not be immediately determined.
