The Finance Ministry has asked the Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) to act on a complaint by a dismissed Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) executive, who alleged he was removed through an illegal and unilateral process and sought reinstatement.
In a letter dated July 23, the Financial Institutions Division forwarded a petition filed by dismissed DSE Deputy General Manager Md Abdul Latif, directing the capital market regulator to take necessary action in accordance with the rules.
Latif, in his petition submitted on 5 July, alleged that DSE had terminated his employment illegally and without due process. He requested a neutral investigation into his dismissal and sought reinstatement to his former position.
The ministry’s letter did not comment on the allegations or express any view on the merits of the complaint. It simply forwarded the petition to BSEC for action under the applicable rules.
The letter, signed by Deputy Secretary Farzana Jahan, enclosed Latif’s application and instructed the securities regulator to take the necessary measures in accordance with the law.
