The new football season in Bangladesh kicked off with the Challenge League final, but not without controversy. Played on a substandard pitch in intense afternoon heat, the match left players from both teams visibly frustrated, with complaints centred on the poor playing surface.
Despite earlier promises from Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) Vice-President Fahad Karim to improve broadcast quality in the country’s top leagues, the start of the Federation Cup has already highlighted familiar shortcomings.
Federation Cup 2025–26 continued on its opening day with two major teams in action. Mohammedan Sporting Club face Bangladesh Police FC in Cumilla, while Bashundhara Kings host Fortis FC at Kings Arena. Both matches were scheduled to kick off at 2:45 PM but fans were unable to watch the match live on YouTube due to a region lock restricting access within Bangladesh.
Such a broadcasting blunder at the very start of the season has raised questions once again about BFF’s ability to learn from past mistakes.As the season begins with technical errors and unresolved infrastructure issues, fans are left wondering when Bangladesh football will finally receive the professionalism it deserves.
On the pitch, Bashundhara Kings were held to a 1-1 draw by Fortis and Mohammedan Sporting Club beat Bangladesh Police FC 3-2.
