A father and his son were killed after a bus hit them while they were repairing their truck on the Bhanga Expressway in Faridpur early Saturday.
The accident occurred around 4am between the Bogail and Bamankanda areas near Bogail Toll Plaza.
The deceased were identified as Yusuf Ali, 50, and his son Yakub Ali, 26, residents of Rupdia in Jashore Sadar upazila. Yakub was driving the goods-laden truck, while Yusuf was assisting him.
According to police, the truck had been parked on the roadside for tyre repairs when a bus struck them from behind and fled the scene. Both died on the spot.
Police recovered the bodies and seized the truck.
Bhanga Highway Police Station Officer-in-charge (OC) Md Helal Uddin confirmed the deaths, while Shibchar Highway Police Station OC Md Mizanur Rahman said efforts are underway to identify the bus involved and legal procedures are ongoing.
