The Rapid Action Battalion arrested a 40-year-old man in Khulna on Saturday over the murder of his teenage daughter earlier this month.
The arrestee, Md Alim Hossain Akash, was detained from Dumuria Bazar in a joint operation by RAB-6 and Khulna Metropolitan Police’s Sadar Police Station, officials said.
Police recovered the body of 16-year-old Arfana Hossain Nirjona from the Prantika residential area under Sadar Police Station after she was killed on the night of 8 July.
The body was sent to Khulna Medical College Hospital for a post-mortem examination.
Sub-Inspector Lovely Akhtar later filed a murder case against unidentified suspects. Investigators alleged that Nirjona was killed by her parents following a family dispute.
Her mother, Arifa Yasmin Seema, was arrested earlier and gave a confessional statement before a court, according to police.
Akash, identified by investigators as the prime accused, had been in hiding since the incident.
He was handed over to Sadar Police Station for further legal proceedings.
