Writer Farhad Samji has expressed confidence that Golmaal 5 will be the strongest film in the long-running comedy franchise as the series celebrates its 20th anniversary, states Hindustan Times.
Speaking to Hindustan Times after the release of Welcome to the Jungle, Samji said working on the fifth instalment has been a rewarding experience.
Directed by Rohit Shetty, the film recently completed a major shooting schedule and remains in production.
Samji said returning to the Golmaal universe makes the writing process easier because audiences already know and love its characters.
Unlike a new franchise, he does not need to spend time introducing the cast and can instead focus on developing the humour and relationships that have defined the series.
He said the familiarity of characters, including the franchise’s iconic mute character, gives the writers greater creative freedom and has helped Golmaal remain one of Bollywood’s most successful comedy franchises over the past two decades.
Samji also described the franchise as more than just a film series, saying it has become like family to everyone involved.
After working on five films, he said the cast and crew often associate important moments in their personal lives with the Golmaal film they were making at the time.
He added that the same emotional connection now drives the team behind Golmaal 5.
According to Samji, excitement remains high on set as filming continues, with everyone committed to making the latest instalment memorable.
Confident about the film’s prospects, Samji said the team will begin full-scale promotions once production wraps up.
He added that he believes Golmaal 5 will surpass all of its predecessors and become the best film in the franchise.
