Explosions were heard across Iran overnight as US and Israeli airstrikes continued, with reports of air defence systems activated in central Tehran and blasts in both eastern and western districts of the capital.

Strikes were also reported in several other cities. In Bandar Abbas, a radio station was hit, leaving one person dead, reports Al Jazeera.

Civilian casualties were confirmed in Khorramabad and Urmia after residential areas were targeted. Officials say at least 1,500 people have been killed so far, with the toll expected to rise.

Massive explosions were also reported in Isfahan, Karaj and Ahvaz, where one hospital sustained damage.

Iranian Red Crescent Society said more than 80,000 civilian structures have been affected nationwide, including hospitals, schools, universities and Red Crescent facilities, with some completely destroyed.
