Three workers were injured in a boiler explosion while melting iron at a steel mill in Basherpur area of Demra, Dhaka.
The injured are identified as Sabbir Hossain, 24, Tofazzal Hossain, 48, and Majed Hossain, 52. Two of them are currently receiving treatment at the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery.
The accident occurred at the ZSRM Steel Mill around 7:30am on Sunday, said co‑worker Al‑Amin Hossain, who helped rescue them. They were immediately taken to hospital, he added.
Shaon Bin Rahman, resident surgeon (emergency) at the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery, said Sabbir sustained burns on 35 per cent of his body, Tofazzal on 23 per cent, and Majed on 1 per cent.
Majed was discharged after primary treatment, while Sabbir and Tofazzal remain under observation and are receiving medical care, he said.
