Two leaders of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) and Jubo Dal were killed after their motorcycle was run over by a Narayanganj City Corporation (NCC) dump truck in Siddhirganj on Tuesday evening.
The deceased were identified as Abdul Kadir Jilani, 26, former general secretary of Fatullah Union Chhatra Dal, and Md Masum Billah, 27, publicity secretary of Ward No. 9 Jubo Dal in Kutubpur.
The accident occurred around 6pm in Jhutpatti area of Jalkuri when the victims were travelling to attend the inauguration of a coil factory in Dashpipe area.
Siddhirganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge Mohammad Emdadul Haque confirmed the incident and said both victims died after being run over by a dump truck of the city corporation.
Eyewitnesses said the motorcycle attempted to overtake the NCC truck on the Jalkuri Jhutpatti road when it lost control and skidded.
The riders then fell onto the road, were run over by the truck, and died on the spot.
Police later seized the vehicle and sent the bodies to Narayanganj General Hospital morgue for autopsy.
An investigation is underway, police said.
