A gang of six to seven masked robbers looted valuables worth an estimated Tk90 lakh from an engineer’s residence in the Bhadulidanga area of Narail municipal town early Sunday.
The victim, engineer Manik Biswas, lives in Dhaka, while his elder brother, Samar Kumar Biswas, resides in the Narail house.
Narail Sadar Police Station Officer-in-charge Rasel Sarwar confirmed the incident.
Family members said gold jewellery had been kept at the house as relatives had gathered there for a family function.
According to police and the victims, the robbers entered the house before dawn by cutting a window grill.
They held family members hostage and looted 30 to 40 bhori of gold jewellery, Tk1 lakh in cash and an expensive camera.
A team from Sadar Police Station visited the scene after receiving information on Sunday morning.
OC Rasel said police were investigating and would take necessary legal action following the probe.
