Former army officer Mozaffar Hossain, an accused in the assassination case of former president Ziaur Rahman, has been shown arrested in connection with a crimes against humanity case.
The International Crimes Tribunal‑2 passed the order on Thursday following a petition from the prosecution.
ICT‑2 also granted investigators to interrogate Mozaffar for two days. He will remain under military custody during this period.
Chief Prosecutor Aminul Islam represented the prosecution during the hearing. The next hearing in the case has been scheduled for 23 September.
Earlier in the day, Mozaffar was produced before the tribunal. The accused, who had been absconding for 45 years, was arrested on the night of 15 July from a residence in Banani DOHS, Dhaka.
Investigators have also uncovered evidence of collusion between Mozzafar and Masud Uddin during the period when crimes against humanity were committed across the country under the Awami League’s rule.
Preliminary findings suggest Mozzafar’s involvement in crimes against humanity as well as links to the events of 1/11.
