Bangladesh will be among the first countries to take part in the inaugural Eurovision Song Contest Asia, organisers have confirmed. The competition, modelled on Europe’s long-running contest, will feature national selections across participating nations, culminating in a grand finale on November 14 in Bangkok.
Alongside Bangladesh, broadcasters from Bhutan, Cambodia, Laos, Malaysia, Nepal, the Philippines, South Korea, Thailand and Vietnam are confirmed to compete, with more countries expected to join.
The Asian edition marks a major expansion for Eurovision, which is celebrating its 70th edition this year and has previously launched spin-offs in the US.
Details on rules and voting procedures for the Asia edition remain unclear, including whether performances will follow the live vocal and original song requirements of the European contest. Larger nations such as India, China and Japan have not yet confirmed participation.
Chuwit Sirivajjakul of the Thailand Tourism Authority welcomed the decision to host the finale in Bangkok, highlighting the city’s cultural vibrancy and musical energy. The contest will be organised by the European Broadcasting Union alongside LA-based Voxovation and Thailand-based S2O Productions.
