Police recovered a body of an old man from Hatirjheel lake in Dhaka on Wednesday.
The deceased was identified as Azim Uddin, 65. The body was recovered from the lake adjacent to bridge 1, near rainbow crossing.
Sub-Inspector (SI) of Hatirjheel Police Station Md Najmul Islam Abhi said they moved to the spot and recovered the body from the water after receiving a call through national emergency service 999. He added that, primarily, it is suspected the man died by drowning.
Police further said the body has been sent to Dhaka Medical College (DMC) morgue for an autopsy. A forensic team from CID identified the man through his fingerprints.
Azim Uddin was a resident of Shimulbag area on Ulon Road in West Rampura. The exact cause of death will be confirmed once the autopsy report is available.
