EDOTCO Bangladesh has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Bangladesh Red Crescent Society (BDRCS) to strengthen disaster preparedness and improve emergency communication systems in climate-vulnerable communities.
The agreement aims to enhance early warnings, site readiness and rapid restoration of critical communication services during emergencies, EDOTCO Bangladesh said in a press release.
According to the release, the MoU was signed at the BDRCS headquarters in Dhaka in the presence of EDOTCO Bangladesh Country Managing Director Sunil Issac and BDRCS Chairman Major General Prof Md Azizul Islam Retd.
The partnership is designed to support vulnerable communities through solar-powered communication systems, reinforced shelters and targeted local development initiatives.
During disasters, the BDRCS will take responsibility for humanitarian outreach and community mobilisation, while EDOTCO will focus on maintaining network continuity and power stability at priority sites.
Joint simulation drills, volunteer training and field exercises will be carried out by both organisations to strengthen national preparedness.
“We are strengthening disaster readiness and enabling rapid recovery for the communities that need it most,” said EDOTCO Bangladesh Country Managing Director Sunil Issac.
Combining EDOTCO’s network continuity and power stability with the BDRCS’s humanitarian expertise will help secure evacuation routes, deliver timely warnings and restore communication services quickly, he added.
He said solar-backed connectivity, safe-shelter support and targeted community programmes will help build resilience where climate risks are highest.
