The Election Commission (EC) will hold an emergency meeting with law enforcement agencies this afternoon to review security arrangements ahead of the 13th national election and the referendum.

Election Commissioner Abdur Rahmanel Masud confirmed the matter on Sunday.

Speaking to the media, he said, “For overall security, we will meet with the Inspector General of Police (IGP), the head of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), the Home Secretary, and the Law Secretary.”

Earlier, on Saturday, the chief election commissioner, four other election commissioners, the EC Secretary, three of the EC’s returning officers, and all field‑level offices and officials submitted a letter to Police Headquarters requesting additional security measures.
