Eastern Bank PLC (EBL) marked World Environment Day 2026 by organising an interactive session titled “Leaders Driving Sustainable Change” at its head office in Dhaka, reinforcing its commitment to sustainable banking and environmental responsibility.

The programme, held in line with this year’s global theme, “Inspired by Nature, For Climate, For Our Future,” brought together business, development, and sustainability leaders to discuss institutional roles in fostering a climate-resilient future.

EBL Managing Director Hassan O Rashid said in a press statement that “sustainability is no longer a choice; it is a business imperative. Responsible banking can play a transformative role in addressing climate challenges while creating long-term value for customers, communities, and the economy.”

The session highlighted EBL’s ongoing efforts to integrate environmental and social governance principles into its operations and strengthen collaboration with partners to support sustainable development across Bangladesh.

Speakers at the session included National Director of SOS Children’s Villages Bangladesh Md Enamul Haque, Head of Development Armana Ahmed, Head of Biosafety of icddr,b Asadulghani and Chief Sales Officer of Shanta Holdings Ltd Shihab Ahmed. Senior management, employees, development partners, invited guests, and media members attended the event.
