Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (Ducsu) staged a protest march on Wednesday night following the death of Jamaat-e-Islami leader Rezaul Karim during a clash between BNP and Jamaat activists in Sherpur.

The protest, which included more than a hundred students and leaders from various hall unions, began around 11:30pm in front of the Vice-Chancellor’s residence. The marchers paraded through various campus roads before concluding the demonstration with a brief rally at the base of the Raju Memorial Sculpture.

During the procession, participants chanted several slogans, including, “Does Tarique Rahman know? You are the hero of Rezaul’s murder,” “Power or People? People, People,” and “Why attacks on women? Tarique Rahman must answer.”

The rally featured speeches from Ducsu Vice President (VP) Sadik Kayem and General Secretary (GS) SM Farhad, along with other student leaders. The speakers issued a warning to BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman regarding the political violence and the killing of the Jamaat leader.
