The prize distribution ceremony of the annual literary, cultural and in-hall sports competitions of Shamsun Nahar Hall, University of Dhaka, was held on Monday evening at the hall auditorium.
In the annual literary competition, Naba Ahmed Ishtimam of the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering emerged as the champion, while Nahida Sultana of the Department of Software Engineering secured the runner-up position, according to a press release.
In the cultural competition, Sheikh Jerin Shabnam of the Department of Music won the champion title, with Purba Sarkar, of the same department, finishing as runner-up.
Meanwhile, in the annual in-hall sports competition, Habiba Akter Emi of the Department of Information Science and Library Management became the champion, while Sadia Islam Shashi of the Department of Linguistics was the runner-up.
Professor Saima Haque Bidisha, pro-vice-chancellor (Administration) of the University of Dhaka, who is currently performing the routine duties of the vice-chancellor, attended the ceremony as the chief guest and distributed prizes among the winners.
The event was presided over by the Provost of Shamsun Nahar Hall, Professor Nasrin Sultana. Professor Upoma Kabir, dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Technology, was present as the special guest.
