The University of Dhaka (DU) has formed a committee to investigate allegations against a student accused of making “disrespectful remarks” about Islam, the Holy Quran, and the Muslim community on social media.

A notice signed by DU Proctor Professor Dr Saifuddin Ahmed has been issued on Sunday.

The committee was instructed to verify the authenticity of the allegations, collect necessary evidence, and submit a report with recommendations within three working days.

The complaint alleged that Abrar Faiyaz, a student of the 2021–2022 session under the Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE), posted “disrespectful” comments about the Muslim community.

The three-member investigation committee was constituted with Assistant Proctor Professor Dr AFM Mostafizur Rahman as its convener. Other members of the committee are Assistant Proctor Dr AKM Nur Alam Siddiqui and Assistant Proctor Professor Dr Abu Asad Chowdhury.
