Dhaka University achieved notable success at the Inter-University Table Tennis Competition, with Sadia Rahman Mou clinching the women’s singles championship and the men’s team finishing as runners-up.

Sadia Rahman Mou, a student of the Institute of Nutrition and Food Science, emerged as the women’s singles champion, while Samantha Hossain Tushi from the Department of History secured third place in the same event, according to a press release.

In addition, Dhaka University earned the runners-up position in the men’s team event. The Dhaka University men’s team comprised Muhtasin Ahmed Hridoy of the Department of Geography and Environment, Samson Bom of the Faculty of Fine Arts, Tanoya Murong, and Subrata Chakma.

In the women’s singles category, Munsat Jahan Lamisa and Tabassum Binte Jahir Jiniya advanced to the quarterfinals.

The competition was organised by the Bangladesh Table Tennis Federation and featured participation from 30 universities across the country.

To mark the achievement, the university administration hosted a reception on Wednesday at the Vice-Chancellor’s Conference Room.

The event was attended by Vice-Chancellor Niaz Ahmed Khan as the chief guest and Pro-Vice Chancellor (Administration) Sayma Haque Bidisha as the special guest.

Also present were Professor SM Mostafa Al Mamun, advisor of the Physical Education Center; SM Zakaria, acting director of the Physical Education Center; Professor Md Abul Kalam Sarker, president of the Table Tennis Committee; Salma Arju, deputy director of the Physical Education Center and Table Tennis In-Charge; and DUCSU Sports Secretary Arman Hossain.

It is noteworthy that Sadia Rahman Mou has been selected as Bangladesh’s female representative as the 66th Youth Olympic Ambassador, while Md Sejan Ahmed Jahan of the Department of English has been selected as the male representative.
