The online application process for admission to the Dhaka University of (DU) undergraduate programmes for the 2026-27 academic year will start on 11 November and continue until 25 November.
The application window will open at 12pm on 11 November and close at 11:59pm on 25 November, while the admission tests under five units will begin on 5 December, according to a decision taken at a meeting of the university’s General Admission Committee on Sunday.
The meeting, held at the Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban, was chaired by DU Vice-Chancellor Professor ABM Obaidul Islam, said a press release issued by the university’s Public Relations Office.
The admission tests will be conducted under five units – Arts, Law and Social Science; Science; Business Studies; Fine Arts; and the Institute of Business Administration (IBA).
The IBA admission test will be held on 5 December, followed by the Science unit examination on 12 December, Arts, Law and Social Science unit on 19 December, Fine Arts unit on 22 December, and Business Studies unit on 26 December.
Except for the IBA unit, examinations will be held from 11am to 12:30pm. The IBA test will take place from 10am to 12pm.
The admission tests for the Science, Arts, Law and Social Science, and Business Studies units will be held at Dhaka and seven regional centres, including Rajshahi University, Chittagong University, Barishal University, Khulna University, Shahjalal University of Science and Technology, Bangladesh Agricultural University in Mymensingh, and Begum Rokeya University.
The existing admission test format will remain unchanged.
Except for Fine Arts and IBA, candidates will sit for a 60-mark MCQ test and a 40-mark written examination.
The Fine Arts unit will have a 40-mark MCQ test and a 60-mark drawing examination, while the IBA test will consist of a 70-mark MCQ section and a 30-mark descriptive section.
Applicants will be assessed on a total of 120 marks, with 100 marks allocated for the admission test and 20 marks based on SSC and HSC or equivalent examination results.
Students who passed SSC or equivalent examinations between 2021 and 2024 and HSC or equivalent examinations in 2026 will be eligible to apply.
For the Science unit, science-background applicants must have a combined GPA of at least 8.0 in SSC and HSC, with a minimum GPA of 3.5 in each examination. Humanities and business studies students can also apply, provided they have a combined GPA of at least 7.5 and a minimum GPA of 3.0 separately.
For the Arts, Law and Social Science unit, applicants need a combined GPA of at least 7.5 with a minimum GPA of 3.0 separately. Science students require a combined GPA of 8.0 and a minimum GPA of 3.5, while business studies students need a combined GPA of 7.5 and a minimum GPA of 3.0.
Applicants for the Business Studies unit must have a combined GPA of at least 7.5 with a minimum GPA of 3.0 separately. Science students require a combined GPA of 8.0 and a minimum GPA of 3.5, while humanities students need a combined GPA of 7.5 and a minimum GPA of 3.0.
Candidates applying for the Fine Arts unit must have a combined GPA of at least 6.5 in SSC and HSC, with a minimum GPA of 3.0 separately.
The admission committee also decided to prepare separate question papers for English-medium students applying to the Science unit based on their curriculum.
The classes for the 2026-27 undergraduate programmes are scheduled to begin on March 28, 2027.
