Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) conducted a drive and mobile court operation from Chanmari Ghat to Khilgaon Rail Crossing to clear illegal occupation from roads, footpaths and public spaces, issuing fines to four traders for violations, said in a press release.
During the operation, three traders were fined a total of Tk9,000 under the Local Government (City Corporation) Act, 2009 for violating regulations on public space use, while one meat seller was fined Tk5,000 under the Meat Control Act 2011 for failing to maintain hygienic standards in meat sale and storage.
Confiscated goods and furniture seized during the drive were immediately sold through on-spot auction, generating Tk6,000.
DSCC said such enforcement drives will continue regularly to remove encroachment, ensure public access to roads and footpaths and maintain a safe and hygienic urban environment for city residents.
