The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has carried out a major reshuffle, transferring the Deputy Commissioners (DCs) of its 13 zones simultaneously.
The move was formalised through an official order signed on Thursday by DMP Commissioner Sheikh Md Sajjat Ali.
The transfers come ahead of the 13th National Parliamentary Election, reflecting heightened administrative preparations in the capital.
In addition, the DMP has transferred the Officers-in-Charge (OCs) of 50 police stations across Dhaka, aiming to strengthen law enforcement and maintain public order during the election period.
Earlier, multiple officials noted that postings for police superintendents in the country’s 64 districts are reportedly decided through a lottery system by the Ministry of Home Affairs, applicable to officers of the same rank.
